Pharmacy Careers

The Department of Pharmacy Services at Yale-New Haven Hospital is committed to providing the highest quality of pharmaceutical care and services. Our dedication to adopting the most sophisticated venues of technological support is second to none, and the entire medical center utilizes computerized physician order entry and advanced clinical knowledge systems interfaced with automated dispensing devices.

Yale-New Haven Hospital also offers a number of acclaimed specialty pharmacy services, including:

  • The Center for Drug Information
    A state-of-the-art drug information center providing advanced literature retrieval and analysis services, utilizing extensive electronic and print resources.
  • Investigational Drug Service
    Our pharmacy staff support the research activities of both Yale University's School of Medicine and Yale-New Haven Hospital through protocol review and development, inventory control, patient enrollment and randomization.
  • Anticoagulation Service
    Our clinical pharmacists provide point-of-care testing, patient education and drug therapy management to Yale-New Haven Primary Care Center patients dealing with such chronic diseases as asthma, diabetes and hypertension.

Pharmacists
Pharmacists at Yale-New Haven Hospital enjoy the opportunity to specialize in a wide range of patient care areas, including Critical Care, Pediatrics, Oncology, Transplant and general Medical/Surgical. This opportunity is mirrored in our facilities, where our Central Pharmacy is supplemented by satellite stations in many other units.

While maintaining a core focus on providing evidence-based and cost-efficient drug therapies, every member of our team is encouraged to participate in medical staff rounding, medication use evaluation, drug information and patient education. Post-graduate education is also available through our Residency Programs.

Pharmacy Residency Programs
The award-winning Pharmacy Residency Programs at Yale-New Haven Hospital offer clinicians the opportunity to train in a stimulating and enriching work environment with skilled and experienced preceptors. We serve as a teaching site for the University of Connecticut Doctor of Pharmacy program, and UCONN clinical faculty members provide on-site support.

Yale-New Haven Hospital offers an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency, as well as specialty residencies in:

Pharmacy Technicians
Our pharmacy technicians enjoy specialization opportunities in such areas as IV admixture, advanced automated delivery systems, and our Investigational Drug Service. They are encouraged to participate in - and lead - quality assurance activities, while ensuring safe and effective drug distribution. We actively encourage our pharmacy technicians to seek national certification, and take great pride in rewarding their commitment and expertise with exciting career advancement opportunities.
