Area Information
Located on the Connecticut shore 90 minutes from New York City and 2 hours from Boston, Yale-New Haven Hospital has been a pillar of the greater New Haven, CT area since our founding in 1833. Today, New Haven is a vibrant and diverse community boasting a rich cultural, artistic and academic tradition both in connection to and independent of Yale University. Overlooking Long Island Sound, the New Haven area offers four distinct and beautiful seasons emblematic of the New England lifestyle, as well as easy access to the beaches of the Connecticut shore, Rhode Island and Cape Cod; excellent hiking and skiing across northern Connecticut, western Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont; and regular commuter rail service radiating outward toward both New London and New York City. Beyond the boundaries of the city itself, the greater New Haven area offers a wide range of communities our colleagues call home.
